It's a combined DAC/headphone amp/pre-amp with line outs to hook up your speakers. Edit - Monarch, ZipZoomFly, NewEgg and Chiefvalue are equally reliable IMHO. All that matters what monitor and video card you get. Plus it's fun imo. check over here
I guess the only 2 reservations I have with this option are price and thoughts that the portability would only come in play 4-5 times a year. If you have lots of money and can afford the best then you don't have to worry about those little things. I am forced to buy it and to pay for it in monthly payments Thank you all for your opinions, much appreciated! Good tip on the printer situation, have a recommendation for a good not-so-pricy color laser by chance? Since you plan to use headphones and a DAC, realize you would have to plug and unplug the Magni/Klipsch Promedia in order to use one or the other. I need opinions, help, suggestions and comments about my setup, please!
maybe a textbook... http://forum.justforfun-gaming.com/posts/179827/ From my very limited understanding, the headphone amplifier on the Sound Blaster Z (& Zx) is not as good as it could be for driving 250-Ohm headphones, so it's a little Little more balanced sound. That is important for the speed of the processing using Photoshop. 8 GB minimum RAM.
